Catherine Garoupa White is a PhD student in Geography at the University of California, Davis. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies and a Minor in English from the University of California Santa Barbara, graduating with honors and distinction in her major while completing two semester abroad programs with a language component in Delhi, India and Bayreuth, Germany. Garoupa White also has a Master’s in Social Work (MSW) from California State University, Fresno. Her master’s thesis explored the ethics and decision-making processes community organizers employ when utilizing confrontational tactics.
Garoupa White has worked extensively as an advocate for social and environmental justice in a variety of roles, most recently as staff of Central Valley Air Quality Coalition.

Garoupa White's research interests include environmental, social, and economic justice, grassroots organizing, coalition building, gender and the body, sustainability, resources management planning, and regional governance.
