Samara Foster is currently a Postdoctoral Scholar in the School of Education at the University of California, Davis, where she is studying youth participation in environmental science research programs and its impact on science learning and literacy and civic engagement.  Prior to this, Sam was the CCREC Assistant Director, CCREC's first staff member.  She was responsible for building CCREC's operating structure, managed the day-to-day activities, and co-created all of CCREC’s programs. She also taught undergraduates, supervised and mentored graduate students, and contributed to the research activities of the center.
Sam holds a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Colorado at Boulder in the areas of Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice and Educational Research and Evaluation Methodology (dual degree program), specializing in educational policy and school reform with an emphasis on issues of educational equity and social justice.  She also has a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies and has a particular interest in gender, especially as it intersects with race and class in educational policy and practice.
